The summer that rewrote who gets to stay

The first of a running record of what actually changed for companies and their owners in Portugal, Madeira and the Azores. Every item carries a date, a status and a source, because most of what circulates about Portuguese law is a proposal being reported as a fact.

What we are watching into the autumn

Publication of the Foreigners and Asylum Law in the Diário da República, which is what starts its clock, and the implementing regulation that decides how much of it works in practice.

The Trabalho XXI labour package, which has been in negotiation all year and would change fixed-term contracts, working time and holiday if it ever lands.

And the 2027 State Budget, tabled in October, which is where the corporate rate path to 17% either continues or does not.
