1. Drawing up the qualification and classification tables consists of listing the crop types of economic interest and defining classes or grades of appreciably different productivity, and of selecting standard plots representative of each crop type and class.

#

2. In drawing up the qualification and classification tables, account is taken exclusively of normal farming operations according to the customs of the region; operations that are neglected or exceptionally well tended, and transitory, improvised or accidental forms of cultivation or production, are not to be considered, account being taken only of special circumstances that may lead to appreciably different tariffs.

3. As a rule, one qualification and classification is made for each parish or group of parishes with similar characteristics and, exceptionally, in the largest parishes with markedly different agrological or economic conditions, it is made by zones delimited as far as possible by natural features or permanent works.

#

4. Plots with the same type of use always have identical names.

#

5. Classification is based on the quantity and quality of products and, in carrying it out, account is taken of the physiographic and economic conditions that affect the determination of income, specifying the characteristics and elements that serve to distinguish one class from another.

#

6. The quantity of products is calculated as the average for the previous five years or for a longer period in the case of crops whose growing cycle so requires.
