1. The IRS assessment, including an additional assessment, and the revision of an assessment are made within the time limit and under the terms laid down in Articles 45 and 46 of the General Tax Law.
1 - A liquidação do IRS, ainda que adicional, bem como a reforma da liquidação efetua-se no prazo e nos termos previstos nos artigos 45.º e 46.º da lei geral tributária.
2. Where a negative net result has been carried forward, the expiry period is that of the exercise of that right.

3. In cases where tax is to be assessed, the expiry period begins to run on the occurrence of any of the following events:
3 - Determina o início da contagem do prazo de caducidade, nos casos em que haja lugar a liquidação de imposto, a ocorrência de qualquer dos seguintes factos:
a) The property not being allocated to the housing of the taxpayer or their household within the period referred to in Article 10(6)(a), (b) and (c);
a) A não afetação do imóvel à habitação do sujeito passivo ou do seu agregado familiar no prazo referido nas alíneas a), b) e c) do n.º 6 do artigo 10.º;
b) The expiry of the period for reinvesting the realisation value of property intended as the own and permanent home of the taxpayer or their household without the reinvestment having been made, in whole or in part, under Article 10(5)(a);
b) O decurso do prazo de reinvestimento do valor de realização de imóvel destinado a habitação própria e permanente do sujeito passivo ou do seu agregado familiar sem que o mesmo tenha sido concretizado, total ou parcialmente, nos termos da alínea a) do n.º 5 do artigo 10.º;
The reference to Articles 45 and 46 of the General Tax Law, the rule for loss carry-forwards and the events that start the expiry period, including the five-year condition in paragraph 3(c), are retained.
