How this translation is made and checked

The Portuguese text

The Portuguese column is the consolidated text published in the Diário da República, including Law No. 26/2026 of 3 June. Before translation every line was checked against the consolidation kept by the Tax and Customs Authority and, where the two differed, against the amending acts, on 26 October 2026. Where the official consolidation omits or garbles a provision or a table, we reproduce the text in force and say so in a note on the article.

The English text

Each provision is translated separately and aligned with its Portuguese counterpart, then checked by a second tax translator for rates, bands, deductions, time limits, residence rules and cross-references.

What it is not

This is not an official or certified translation and not tax advice. Many reliefs, including the regime for scientific research and innovation (IFICI), are in the Tax Benefits Statute, not in this Code.
