How this translation is made and checked

The Portuguese text

The Portuguese column is the consolidated text published in the Diário da República, including Law No. 64/2025 and the 2026 State Budget. Every line was then checked against the consolidation kept by the Tax and Customs Authority and against the amending acts on 26 October 2026. Where the official consolidation still prints superseded wording, as it does for Article 14, we reproduce the text in force and say so in a note on the article. Transitional rules printed with an article, such as the rate path in Article 87, are summarised in a note on that article.

The English text

Each provision is translated separately and aligned with its Portuguese counterpart, then checked by a second tax translator for rates, thresholds, periods, conditions and cross-references.

What it is not

This is not an official or certified translation and not tax advice. Regional rates, municipal surcharges and tax benefits in other statutes can change the tax actually payable.

Applying the law

Portuguese corporate tax, applied to your numbers

The Code sets the rules; the rate you actually pay depends on your structure, your region, the surcharges and the reliefs you claim. Send us your figures and we will model the IRC position before you commit.
