1. The residence visa is intended to allow its holder to enter Portuguese territory in order to apply for a residence permit.
1 - O visto de residência destina-se a permitir ao seu titular a entrada em território português a fim de solicitar autorização de residência.
2. The residence visa is valid for two entries into Portuguese territory and entitles its holder to stay there for a period of four months.
2 - O visto de residência é válido para duas entradas em território português e habilita o seu titular a nele permanecer por um período de quatro meses.
3. Without prejudice to the application of specific conditions, the assessment of an application for a residence visa shall take into account, in particular, the purpose for which residence is sought.
3 - Sem prejuízo da aplicação de condições específicas, na apreciação do pedido de visto de residência atender-se-á, designadamente, à finalidade pretendida com a fixação de residência.
4. Without prejudice to shorter time limits laid down in this Law, the time limit for deciding on an application for a residence visa is 60 days.
4 - Sem prejuízo de prazos mais curtos previstos nesta lei, o prazo para a decisão sobre o pedido de visto de residência é de 60 dias.
5. The residence visa may also be granted for the purpose of enabling family members, within the meaning of Article 99(1), to accompany an applicant for a residence visa, and the applications may be submitted simultaneously.
5 - O visto de residência tem ainda como finalidade o acompanhamento de membros da família do requerente de um visto de residência, na aceção do n.º 1 do artigo 99.º, podendo os pedidos ser suscitados em simultâneo.
6. Upon the grant of the residence visa, a residence pre-authorisation is issued, containing information on obtaining the residence permit and the provisional allocation of the tax identification, social security and national health service numbers.
6 - Com a concessão do visto de residência é emitida uma pré-autorização de residência, onde consta a informação relativa à obtenção da autorização de residência e a atribuição provisória dos números de identificação fiscal, de segurança social e do serviço nacional de saúde.
