1. The statement of the company's object must be correctly worded in Portuguese.
1 - A indicação do objecto da sociedade deve ser correctamente redigida em língua portuguesa.
2. The articles of association must specify, as the company's object, the activities which the members propose that the company should carry on.
2 - Como objecto da sociedade devem ser indicadas no contrato as actividades que os sócios propõem que a sociedade venha a exercer.
3. The members decide which of the activities falling within the object stated in the articles the company will actually carry on, and whether to suspend or cease an activity being carried on.
3 - Compete aos sócios deliberar sobre as actividades compreendidas no objecto contratual que a sociedade efectivamente exercerá, bem como sobre a suspensão ou cessação de uma actividade que venha sendo exercida.
4. Unless the articles provide otherwise, the company's acquisition of interests in limited liability companies governed by this law whose object is the same as the activity which the acquiring company is carrying on under the preceding paragraph does not require authorisation in the articles or a resolution of the members.
4 - A aquisição pela sociedade de participações em sociedades de responsabilidade limitada abrangidas por esta lei cujo objecto seja igual àquele que a sociedade está exercendo, nos termos do número anterior, não depende de autorização no contrato de sociedade nem de deliberação dos sócios, salvo disposição diversa do contrato.
5. The articles may also authorise, unconditionally or subject to conditions, the company's acquisition of interests carrying unlimited liability, or of interests in companies with an object other than that referred to above, in companies governed by special legislation, and in complementary groupings of undertakings.
5 - O contrato pode ainda autorizar, livre ou condicionalmente, a aquisição pela sociedade de participações como sócio de responsabilidade ilimitada ou de participações em sociedades com objecto diferente do acima referido, em sociedades reguladas por leis especiais e em agrupamentos complementares de empresas.
6. Management of a securities portfolio belonging to the company may constitute its object.
