1. Screening applies to third-country nationals and stateless persons who:

a) Are apprehended for crossing the external border without authorisation;
a) Sejam intercetados por passagem não autorizada da fronteira externa;
b) Apply for international protection at an external border crossing point and do not meet the conditions for entry into national territory;
b) Apresentem pedido de proteção internacional em ponto de passagem da fronteira externa e não preencham as condições de entrada em território nacional;
c) Are in an irregular situation in national territory, where they crossed an external border to enter the territory of the Member States without due authorisation and have not yet been subject to screening;
c) Se encontrem em situação irregular em território nacional, nos casos em que tenham efetuado a passagem de uma fronteira externa para entrar no território dos Estados-Membros sem a devida autorização e não tenham ainda sido sujeitos a triagem;
d) Are disembarked following search and rescue operations, provided that the purpose of the journey was irregular entry, and do not meet the requirements for entry into national territory.
d) Sejam desembarcados na sequência de operações de busca e salvamento, desde que a viagem tivesse por objetivo a entrada irregular, e não reúnam os requisitos de entrada em território nacional.
a) At border crossing points, in the cases provided for in points (a) and (b) of the preceding paragraph;

b) In national territory, in the cases provided for in point (c) of the preceding paragraph;
