1. For the purposes of the preceding Article, a third-country national may instead submit a statement of responsibility signed by a Portuguese citizen or by a foreign national entitled to stay lawfully in Portuguese territory.
1 - Para os efeitos previstos no artigo anterior, o nacional de Estado terceiro pode, em alternativa, apresentar termo de responsabilidade subscrito por cidadão nacional ou estrangeiro habilitado a permanecer regularmente em território português.
2. Acceptance of the statement of responsibility referred to in the preceding paragraph depends on proof of the signatory’s financial capacity and must include an undertaking to ensure:

b) Reimbursement of the costs of removal, in the event of illegal stay.

3. The preceding paragraph does not exclude the liability of the entities referred to in Articles 198 and 198-A, provided that the relevant conditions are met.

4. The statement of responsibility constitutes an enforceable title for the obligation provided for in paragraph 2(b).

5. The form of the statement of responsibility is approved by resolution of the board of directors of AIMA.
