For that purpose, invoices, return slips or notes and other documents amending invoices, including those issued in the name and on behalf of the taxable person by the acquirer of the goods or by a third party, shall be identified by those designations and numbered sequentially in one or more suitably referenced series; their copies shall be kept in that order, together with all copies of documents that have been cancelled or voided, bearing the annotations needed to identify the documents that replaced them, where applicable.
