1. A decision on the application must be taken within nine months.

2. Except in the cases provided for in Article 98(1) and (2), the time limit referred to in the preceding paragraph may be extended for an equal period by the body competent for the final decision, in exceptional circumstances relating to the complexity of the examination of the application, and the sponsor shall be informed of that extension.
2 - Com exceção dos casos previstos nos n.os 1 e 2 do artigo 98.º, o prazo a que se refere o número anterior pode ser prorrogado, em circunstâncias excecionais associadas à complexidade da análise do pedido, pelo órgão competente para a decisão final por igual período, sendo o requerente informado desta prorrogação.
