1. A residence permit is granted to a researcher holding a residence visa granted under Article 62 provided that, in addition to the conditions laid down in Article 77, the researcher has been admitted to collaborate with an officially recognised research centre, in particular through an employment contract, a contract for the provision of services, a scientific research grant or a hosting agreement.
1 - Ao investigador titular de um visto de residência concedido ao abrigo do artigo 62.º é concedida uma autorização de residência desde que, para além das condições estabelecidas no artigo 77.º, seja admitido a colaborar num centro de investigação oficialmente reconhecido, nomeadamente através de contrato trabalho, de contrato de prestação de serviços, de bolsa de investigação científica ou de convenção de acolhimento.
2. Researchers admitted to officially recognised research centres are exempt from submitting the supporting documents referred to in Article 77(1)(d), (e) and (f).
2 - Os investigadores admitidos em centros de investigação oficialmente reconhecidos estão dispensados da apresentação de documentos comprovativos referidos nas alíneas d), e) e f) do n.º 1 do artigo 77.º
3. Recognition of research centres for the purposes of the preceding paragraph is granted upon application, following a favourable opinion from AIMA, and is valid for five years.
3 - O reconhecimento dos centros de investigação para efeitos do disposto no número anterior é concedido mediante requerimento e precedido de parecer favorável da AIMA, I. P, sendo válido por cinco anos.
4. Recognition must be withdrawn or not renewed whenever the research centre ceases to operate in national territory, has obtained approval fraudulently, or admits researchers or higher education students fraudulently or negligently.
4 - O reconhecimento deve ser retirado ou não renovado sempre que o centro de investigação deixe de exercer atividade em território nacional, tenha obtido a aprovação de forma fraudulenta ou admita investigadores ou estudantes do ensino superior de forma fraudulenta ou negligente.
5. The member of the Government responsible for science and higher education keeps with AIMA an up-to-date list of the research centres and institutions approved for the purposes of this Law.

6. A residence permit granted to researchers is valid for two years, renewable for equal periods, or for the duration of the hosting agreement if that is less than two years.
6 - A autorização de residência concedida a investigadores é válida por dois anos, renovável por iguais períodos ou tem a duração da convenção de acolhimento, caso esta seja inferior a dois anos.
7. A residence permit granted to researchers covered by European Union or multilateral programmes that include mobility measures is for two years or for the duration of the hosting agreement if that is less than two years, except where the researchers do not meet the conditions of Article 62 at the date of grant, in which case it is for one year.
7 - A autorização de residência concedida a investigadores abrangidos por programas da União Europeia ou multilaterais, que incluam medidas de mobilidade, é de dois anos ou tem a duração da convenção de acolhimento, caso esta seja inferior a dois anos, exceto nos casos em que os investigadores não reúnam as condições do artigo 62.º à data da concessão, devendo neste âmbito ter a duração de um ano.
8. The hosting agreement lapses if the researcher is not admitted to national territory or if the legal relationship between the centre or institution and the researcher ends.
8 - A convenção de acolhimento caduca se o investigador não for admitido em território nacional ou se cessar a relação jurídica entre o centro ou a instituição e o investigador.
9. Where the researcher has entered national territory lawfully, the researcher is exempt from the requirement of a residence visa issued under Article 62.
9 - Sempre que tenha entrado legalmente em território nacional, o investigador é dispensado do visto de residência emitido ao abrigo do artigo 62.º
10. A researcher holding a residence permit issued under this Article is entitled to family reunification under Subsection IV.
10 - O investigador titular de autorização de residência emitida ao abrigo do presente artigo tem direito ao reagrupamento familiar nos termos da subsecção IV.
